OUR STORY

Aus Ants started back in 2012, with a focus on high quality content and tutorials shared through our YouTube Channel ‘Ants Australia’, on TV and at events. We told the story of ants and their habitats… often through the eyes of ants themselves. We reckon, once you stop to pay attention, you quickly realise these are intriguing, complex little characters.

These days, we’re keeping rather busy applying our many years of ant keeping experience to product design and development, where we continuously refine and enhance our designs. We channel our new ideas into exciting prototypes, then bring you the best Ants Australia gear out there!

Our small team and production is all based in Melbourne - we’d love if you’d say hello through Instagram, or follow us to see what we’re up to right now.

Our mission

The way in which an ant communicates and cooperates with other members of its colony can prove to be an incredibly intricate and fascinating process.

As a part of the ever-important natural environment, ants make excellent bio-indicators; the more ant species occupying an area, the more diversity of life will be present. By nurturing others’ admiration for these little animals, we hope to encourage the conservation and restoration of natural habitats everywhere. Let’s help make a real difference at this critical time!

Our fascination with these little legends led us to develop our own range of products - after years of testing and prototyping. And we’ve never stopped!

What we do

We highlight the complexity and beauty of the natural world by focusing on, what we believe to be, the most overlooked and enchanting creatures on this planet, ants!

Community

We’ve always looked for ways to get involved with interested communities both online, and face-to-face. We have done numerous presentations for schools, and believe that this particular interest is far more than just a hobby. It can be an important platform to introduce ‘science’ and an appreciation for our natural environment… for kids and adults alike. We are always open to new opportunities!

Content & filmmaking

We develop short videos just for fun, and we work with our ‘ant ambassadors’ to source and share some of the most interesting stories around the globe. We might road-test new gear, share some tips, or go out into the field to bring you fresh HD footage… Ants in Australia are some of the most interesting, but there’s others around the world we want to talk about too!

Ant keeping products

To support and nurture the small, but dedicated ant keeping communities in Australia and abroad; we design and craft a range of world-leading products specifically developed for the successful keeping of ants, without sacrificing observation quality or aesthetics. Our products are not only professional grade (utilised globally by laboratories and universities) but aim to be environmentally sustainable, and are completely non-toxic.

We aspire to making the highest quality products you can find. And get a kick out of pushing new ideas and technology to bring more joy to your ant keeping journey!

Ants are not only efficient, they are hard-working and thrifty, qualities which have always seemed like good reasons for seeing them as virtuous role models.
